Sports Betting Revenue Jumps 38.6% in Pennsylvania, 6.5% Drop in New Jersey

Online sports betting revenue amounted to $67.6 million while retail wagering generated a total of $3.8 million, per numbers reported by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wednesday. 

Revenue increased 38.6% year-on-year to $71.4 million though the increase was not as high as the 287.8% spike reported in December, with the total also 15.8% down month-on-month.

Online sports betting revenue amounted to $67.6 million while retail wagering generated a total of $3.8 million.  The state's overall hold came in at 9.13% among all sportsbooks, which is within the range of the average typical hold percentage reported by regulated sportsbooks in the US of between 8 and 11% of handle.  

FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort kept hold of top spot in the market. They posted $27.7 million off a $276.3 million handle for a 10.03% hold.

DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows remained second with $22.7 million from $235.8 million, leaving a 9.63% hold. Hollywood Casino York and Fanatics Sportsbook again placed third with $5.6 million from $56.3 million for a hold of 9.95%.

Total gambling revenue in January hit $590.6 million.  This surpassed the same month of the previous year but fell 4.2% short of December 2025.

In neighboring New Jersey, Sports Wagering Gross Revenue for the casinos, racetracks, and their partners came in at $114.2 million for January 2026, reflecting a decrease of 6.5% when compared to $122.2 million reported for January 2025.
