Charlotte Hornets

Gambling911.com reported on Tuesday how BetOnline opened prop bets on Detroit Pistons player suspensions, and it was our hottest read of the day.

That offering followed a highly contentious game between the the Pistons and Charlotte Hornets that ended Charlotte's longest win streak since 1999 (9).

There's been plenty of hoopla and betting interest surrounding both teams as a result of their success the first half of this season.

For the Hornets, all of this is coming as quite the surprise.  Their 25-29 record still reflects just how unlikely they are to be considered a juggernaut in the NBA at the moment.   They are 11-3 over their last 14 games.  Consider they started the season 4-14. As of today, the Hornets pay out $12,500 for every $100 bet to win the NBA Championship.  We can dream, right?

Despite low expectations, one lucky gambler still backed Charlotte early, but has since cashed out a cool $37,000 in Hornets futures out of player suspension fears.

George "Riley" Panagakis, known online as @grpwins  loaded up on Hornets futures at odds like +12500 or worse preseason, and even +100000 later.  He had a tracking notebook to show just how crazy he was doing so.

He was able to cash out $10,000 Monday and $27,000 Tuesday after the brawl ejection involving Miles Bridges, Moussa Diabate, and Pistons players.

Fearing NBA penalties that could derail Charlotte's play-in push, he pocketed payouts like $10,374 on a division win bet, leaving four live plays including a potential $50,500 monster.

We here at Gambling911.com can certainly get behind Penagakis' transparency.

"You guys know my policy, whatever I write in the Notebook I bet and any bet that wins I show the betslip as proof. I still have $50 at 1000-1 that Charlotte wins the division."

The Atlanta Hawks come to Charlotte Wednesday night with the Hornets coming in as a -4 favorite.

A new streak to start ahead of the All-Star Break?

We shall see.
