Illinois can pretty much kiss its regulatory framework good bye when it comes to sports betting and protecting customers.
Among the first states to regulate sports gambling, Illinois has been unable to assist those dealing with sweepstakes sites that have infiltrated the market.
A gambler recently contacted Gambling911.com to say one of these sweepstakes sites, specifically BetR, has refused to pay him.
"They (the Illinois gambling regulator) said they’re not licensed with the gaming control board," the gambler told Gambling911.com. "They aren’t and use the sweepstakes model."
The gambler says he is awaiting response from the Bettor Business Bureau.
The customer elaborated further.
I deposited $999,1999,1999,499,999,1999 etc got my ass kicked on the website was down over 10k. I turned my balance into 26k. Cashed out 3k they paid cashed out 5k they locked my account requested documents I happily provided. They said I deposited in another person name… , I used my card first…then my mom card (it’s a joint account with me) , after showing that making it grounds it was acceptable
They said my device was linked to multiple users and I violated terms and conditions , I never had a betr account, nobody ever used my phone ever or WiFi, I just got the brand new iPhone weeks ago and recently download betr. This is 100% false. Not even close.
In addition , I just heard from a friend who said BetR kept 2000$ he had in his account because he deposited with his card but it was a joint account with his wife but they said that is violation terms and kept the money.
While it is possible BetR has a good reason for not paying the customer, the company must be able to work with state regulators to address these issues. That does not appear to be happening here.
Sadly, this does not appear to be an isolated incident, based on internet reviews at least.
From TrustPiolot:
This website is NOT licensed by your states
gaming control board. They use the loophole of sweepstakes and don’t have to answer to them. The gaming board wouldn’t allow what’s happening to me! This place has refused to pay me $15,000 in winnings. I’ve contacted everyone in charge not a single person has got back to me. The support team is a nightmare. Stay AWAY
Gamble at a LEGAL LICENSE WEBSITE
Betr is a huge scam. They don't even have a proper system to verify your eligibility to even gamble. They make you submit documents through email. Thats not even the bad part, because they only ask you to verify your age etc after... you try and withdraw. So you could simply sign up, deposit $1000 and not even be able to withdraw you funds without your account being locked. They lock your account and make you wait up to "48hrs" to get verified. Stay away because its a huge scam and a load of bs. It should simply be shut down due to the huge scam they are running and 'know' they are running.
