Online Gambling Sites Fools Not to Offer Kentucky Derby Betting

As big an event as the Kentucky Derby is, I'm amazed by how some online gambling sites still don't offer betting on the Derby or limited offerings such as "matchups only".

The Kentucky Derby represents the biggest single day betting event, bigger than the Super Bowl (albeit maybe not in terms of overall dollar volume).

Get it through your thick skulls bookies, you need to offer Kentucky Derby betting.

One Gambling911.com sponsor advised that half the signups on the year came from the Kentucky Derby alone.  And let's face it: there were tons of them since our traffic is obviously through the roof.

Wake up and smell the coffee!

The Kentucky Derby is tailor made for betting as opposed to the Super Bowl where wagering is secondary to the game.  The betting element is factored into the whole Derby and promoted throughout via the odds.  You won't catch commentators constantly updating the latest line on the two Super Bowl teams or whether those notorious Kim Kardashian boob bets were winners (i.e. Which will be more, total points scored by the Saints or Kim's boobs + waist size).

In 2009, on-track and off-track wagers amounted to $104,563,501, an 8.7% decrease from the year before, probably due to the economy but this number does not reflect online gambling establishments, which we simply do not know the exact amount.  We do know the figures were phenomenal but with one caveat:  Not all sites were offering bets on the Derby as I already pointed out.

The Kentucky Derby goes off Saturday May 1, 2010 at 6 pm EST.  Most of Gambling911.com's famed online sportsbooks will be offering betting on the Derby.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
