Lane Kiffin to be Named Next New York Giants Head Coach Odds

With Monday's not-so-shocking news that the New York Giants had fired head coach Brian Dabol, BetOnilne was quick to post odds on who his replacement might be

The early favorite was none other than Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. The payout would be $400 for every $100 bet.

NJ.com offered its thoughts on Kiffin coming in to take control of the Giants

Kiffin landing in New Jersey would be a fascinating reunion and would make for amazing headlines. But it seems unlikely, if only because Florida — where Spurrier now works as an ambassador and consultant — could soon hand Kiffin a giant pile of cash to be its next coach.

And while Spurrier had zero NFL coaching experience before Washington hired him in 2002, it’s not like Kiffin has a ton more. Other than that year-plus with the Raiders, his only other NFL job was in 2000 as a quality control coach in Jacksonville, four years into his career.

Yes, Kiffin’s late father, Monte, was a longtime legendary NFL defensive coordinator. But that doesn’t mean Kiffin will be a successful NFL head coach in his second shot at it — even with Dart’s high-end potential.
