Remarkably, this is a 13-way race and, like most in Florida, technically non-partisan. A nonpartisan election means party affiliation does not appear on the ballot.

Of the 13 candidates, Democrat Eileen Higgins, Miami-Dade County commissioner, retained a scant lead in the latest polling. A runoff is widely anticipated and, as such, bets won't be graded immediately following Tuesday's election results

Higgins, a 61-year-old Democrat who was born in Ohio and grew up in New Mexico, comes into the race as the current longest-serving member of the Miami-Dade Commission.

Ken Russell might have the best value, promising a payout of close to $400 for every $100 bet at BetOnline

A runoff would likely result in a much tighter race, though fewer Miami-Dade residents will show up to the polls.

The 52-year-old Democrat born in Coral Gables. He served as Miami’s District 2 Commissioner from 2015 to 2022, when he ran unsuccessfully for Congress. As a city policymaker, Russell has focused mostly on affordable housing and environmental protection. Like with most big cities, rents in Miami-Dade are getting close to unattainable for many.

Next Miami Mayor

Eileen Higgins -300

Ken Russell +375

Emilio Gonzalez +550

Xavier Suarez +2500

(Note: Last week, Higgins' odds were -140)
