He's not out of the woods just yet.

Just two weeks after federal investigators no longer considered NBA free agent Malik Beasley a target in their gambling probe, we are learning Wednesday that the NBA is conducting its own probe into the 28-year-old free agent.

The investigation reportedly stems from allegations of improper gambling on NBA games and prop bets from the 2023-24 season when Beasley was with the Milwaukee Bucks.

At least one U.S. sportsbook detected unusual betting interest on Beasley's statistics beginning around January 2024, according to reports.

Beasley's attorney, Steve Haney, told ESPN that his client is "fully cooperating" with the NBA investigation.

On August 23, attorneys Steve Haney and Mike Schachter said they had “extensive” conversations and meetings with Eastern District of New York authorities, confirming at that time Beasley was no longer the subject of their federal investigation

“Months after this investigation commenced, Malik remains uncharged and is not the target of this investigation,” Haney told ESPN. “An allegation with no charge, indictment or conviction should never have the catastrophic consequence this has caused Malik. This has literally been the opposite of the presumption of innocence.”

The Detroit Pistons were set to complete a three-year, $42 million contract at the time news broke of a potential federal investigation into Beasley. The offer was pulled, but other teams have expressed interest in Beasley.
