With Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engaged, speculation grows over whether 2025 will be his final season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The End Is Near
This missive is attempting to do something unique when discussing Travis Kelce, as it concentrates primarily on the field. At least we’re giving it a shot.
Kelce will turn 36 years of age this October. His 13 seasons as an NFL tight end (including 2025) have all been with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has made what passes as the Pro Bowl every year since 2013 and enters the ‘25 season with 1.004 receptions, 12,151 receiving yards, and 77 touchdowns. Kelce had seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons beginning in 2016.
Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have been the offensive stalwarts during KC’s run of three Super Bowl wins and five appearances.
It’s no surprise the Chiefs are always among the favorites in NFL Super Bowl championship odds, and Kansas City is currently an 8-1 (+800) fourth choice to win the title this time around.
Of course, any mention of Travis Kelce takes into account not only NFL news but pop culture news as well, more so since this week’s news of his engagement to Taylor Swift (we were able to make it all the way through to the fourth graph before going down this road).
There was speculation that Kelce would retire after 2024, but when he and the Chiefs were emphatically denied a title three-peat by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX at the Superdome, ‘I couldn’t go out like that’ meant he’s back in 2025 and his contract’s final year.
Kelce’s last season in the league is anyone’s guess, even those who concoct those props.
When the NFL schedule was released, it was determined that KC needed to get the passports ready. It’s the Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers beginning their respective seasons at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Friday evening, Sept. 5th.
Then, a rematch (at home) against the Eagles on the season’s second Sunday.

It only takes ‘how long have…’ and the internet fills in the rest with ‘...Taylor and Travis been dating?’ It’s been since the summer of 2023, when Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs were atop the odds board as far as NFL Super Bowl championship odds.
Should the Chiefs win the American Football Conference this season, expect Swift to attend Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
