This year we won't have a Triple Crown as the Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignty, has been sidelined for the Preakness Stakes.

We still have a decent enough field.

The horse to beat, however, is Journalism.

He entered the Kentucky Derby favored but finished second.  Perhaps had the track not been muddy we'd be looking at a different outcome and the chance for a Triple Crown.  This is not meant to be in 2025 sadly.

Journalism comes into this year's Preakness Stakes paying $11 for every $10 bet.

One of horse racing's greatest trainers, Bob Baffert, heaped praise upon Journalism.

"He should be the favorite," said Baffert, who has won the Preakness a record eight times and is saddling No. 1 Goal Oriented looking for a ninth. "Watching him run and chasing him, he ran a great Derby. ... He is a really good horse and ran a big race in the Derby. Usually a horse with a good Derby form will run well in the Preakness.
