We've all heard the stories of how some US regulated sportsbooks routinely, and often drastically, reduce customer betting limits.  But just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, one sportsbook is reportedly booting customers even before they place their first wager.

Enter Bet365.

A sports bettor reached out to Gambling911.com claiming they were shown the door right after registering their account.

Closing Dime I owner of SharpMoney L.L.C / Profitable sports bettor, and a content creator for Outlier.bet.  The latter site allows customers to "comb through a curated feed of trending picks and insights to uncover smart betting opportunities".

It's doubtful that Closing Dime joined Bet365 under his website's name and it's not immediately clear if Bet365 was able to link the account to Outlier.bet.

"Following a review of your account, Due to the nature of your business, a decision has been made to close your account with immediate effect," a message purportedly reads from Bet365.

The customer then goes on to ask "how is that possible if I have never made an account?"

He received this response: "You created an account.  It was sent for review and closed.  You are unable to hold a Bet365 account.

"I apologize as I do not like delivering this news to customers, but this is the decision made for the account."

Closing Dime asks "So new bettors can just be denied for a new account before ever placing a bet?"

One of Closing Dime's followers asked in regard to how Bet365 was able to draw the connection between the registration and Closing Dime's business.

"How did they figure this out? Did they ask other books about the email you used?  Wild stuff."

He responded: "Ya they must be getting information from an outside source about accounts. Thats my only guess."

Faster Payout provided a possible answer.

"Casinos share information and if they know you Arb they ban you."

But Closing Dime insists he does not arb, which is short of arbitrage, the practice of taking advantage of price differences between two or more markets to make a profit, usually with little or no risk.

"I don’t arb but obviously find value on soft books."

This is hardly anything new when it comes to Bet365's policy apparently.

A Redditor claimed the same thing happened to him nearly two years ago.

Others chimed in, though these posts were made in the last two weeks.

"Same thing happened to me just now. My account got closed immediately upon thorough review. Honestly if there is a class action lawsuit I would love to join it."

"Me too they just closed my account after I put 10$ in its straight up stealing."

"Same they closed my account yesterday and I just opened it and wasted 95$ and they closed my buddy's account for complaints so scamming people."

Current_Ad1978 explained how two weeks ago he was able to place a bet before being told he could no longer do so, although his situation appears to revolve around the ID requirement.  Still, he did manage to place a wager.

"honestly i would not ever bet using bet365. I made an acct at 11am. Placed bets ($21 only). Randomly couldnt get into my acct at 3pm then i see an email that sent at 3, stating that i need to further verify my identity. Send my id, picture of me holding said ID + bills that verify my address and the card i used for the account. I told them to just delete my account if theyll ask for all that AFTER i set up the account. & they said they cant because i need to send in the documentation first. ????? Just delete the account lol"

Ecstatic-Ad555 relayed how they were denied an account for already having one, something the individual insists they do not.

"Ok so I try to open an account for the first time on bet360, the app said I already had an account (no I didn’t) and contacted their team and they told me something like “due the nature of my business the have permanently closed my account” and I asked for an explanation and told me they don’t have that info (??????) it’s so weird."

Bet365 is one of the largest and most established online sportsbooks.

Gambling companies are within their right to close accounts for any reason but Bet365 certainly seems to be overly trigger happy these days.
