Betsson Group’s subsidiary, BML Group, has reportedly been (once again) added to Finland's payment blocking list.

Head of Compliance for Legal Gaming Attorneys at Law, Antti Koivula, broke the news Tuesday via his LinkedIn page early Tuesday.

"I doubt you knew about this as it is just about to make headlines now. But our compliance retainers weren’t caught off guard—in fact, we informed them about this well in advance last week, providing detailed background information and outlining the potential ramifications.

"Our foresight didn’t start there. We first identified and analyzed this case for our retainers already back in March and provided an updated in-depth analysis in October, ensuring they stayed ahead of the curve."

The gambling company became the first to be blacklisted by the Finland government back in February of this year.  It was Koivula who broke the news back then as well.

He said at the time:

"As of today, BETSSON Group's company BML Group Ltd has been placed on the BLACKLISTED IN FINLAND, and all banks, payment service providers, and virtual currency providers are obliged to block all money transfers from Finland to BML.

"With this, BML made history by becoming the first MGA licensed operator to be placed on the blacklist. As of this moment, this information has not been published elsewhere, but it will soon hit headlines as the NPB has now updated their blacklist online.

"This was a consequence of BML losing a court battle against the National Police Board on February 19, 2024. For our retainers, we provided information on the developments and in-depth analysis in real-time as things unfolded."
