BetOnline has created a map of which states are rooting for which teams in this weekend's Final Four with information obtained through geotagged X data since Sunday evening. BetOnline spent the time tracking official fan hashtags in each state. For example, #BoilerUp (Purdue), #GoPack (NC State), #RollTide (Alabama) and #MixForSix (Uconn). Over 270,000 tweets were tracked.
As you can see from the map, America is split on who to root for between Purdue and NC State, but unfortunately, only one will make it to the National Championship, as the two teams square off on Saturday.
There is a clear regional component as well, as the middle of the country seems to going for Purdue, while the Southern states and east coast are going for NC state. UConn is taking the northeast and the west coast, while Alabama only won its surrounding states.
