888 Poker claims to have reimbursed players a total of $350k as a result of cheaters and bots.

888 discloses statistics revealing the total amount reimbursed to those impacted by the use of AI or RTA last year.

“Our continued progress in tackling bots stems from the understanding that it is crucial in order to ensure that 888poker continues to provide an enjoyable, safe, and level playing field for all our players,” Matan Krakow, Head of Poker Offering at 888poker told Pokerfuse.

"It is an ongoing effort, and we will continue to do all in our power to ensure we keep poker fun and fair, and listening to our players will continue to be a key factor to progress on this front."

Bots and cheating scandals have long plagued the online poker world.

Last month, GGPoker was hit with a well publicized “superuser” scandal following a security breach.

888 Poker began this process in 2001.  In its first public disclosure, the company revealed 85 fraudulent accounts were detected for using AI software.  Approximately $100,000 was recovered and paid out to some 4000 affected players.

Despite these efforts, an individual on the TwoPlusTwo poker forums claims to have captured "a particularly suspicious user (DivVal24) playing on the micro-stakes tables of 888 poker in various game types (cash games, fast blast tournaments etc.)" just last month.

To their credit, 888 was quick to respond to the allegations, blocking the account in question.

"We have been reviewing this case since it was posted here yesterday. The accounts in question have been blocked for the duration of the investigation. Although we do not usually share details of such investigations, in the current circumstances it is important for us to assure you that our players have not been affected by any Super User type breach.

"We very much appreciate any suspicious behavior being brought to our attention. We understand it’s a sensitive climate currently, but we encourage you not to hurry to unverified accusations. Fair gaming is a top priority here at 888Poker and we react to suspected fair gaming breaches with the utmost urgency and professionalism."
