No the former US President and current Republican front runner Donald Trump has not been taken off the Iowa Caucus ballot.  But our friends at BetOnline have removed him from the odds board.

That’s because many experts believe Trump will win the caucus in a blowout.  As such, BetOnline will be offering odds on the second place finisher.   Former South Carolina Governor and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley comes in as the -170 favorite with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis paying $155 on a $100 bet.

BetOnline does have odds on Trump’s winning margin with 30 percent or more the favorite at -175.  Be sure to get your bets placed prior to the start of the caucus.

Trump aims to shatter prior Iowa Caucus records on Monday.  To date, the biggest margin of victory by a Republican in the caucuses was delivred by Bob Dole in 1988.  He won with a 12-point margin.

The final Iowa poll, conducted by Ann Selzer for the Des Moines Register, NBC News and Mediacom, showed Trump leading with an impressive 48 percent of the vote while Haley was coming in at 20 percent and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 16 percent. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy was at 8 percent.

One thing that could get in the way of a massive margin of victory by Trump is the weather as record sub-zero cold is likely to wreak havoc on Monday's caucus. Wind chills of minus 40 are expected as will be slick roads.  A large portion of Trump's base lives in rural communities that may be more treacherous to travel from to caucus locations.  Many are elderly without a reliable mode of transportation.  By contrast, Haley's supporters are mostly those who reside in the suburbs and in cities like Des Moines, which are closer to the caucus locations.

“This is no way to begin the election of a president,” said Julian Castro in an interview with the Associated Press. A former San Antonio mayor and federal housing secretary who was a Democratic presidential candidate in 2020, once called for Iowa to have a less prominent role. “You have to be a die-hard who’s willing to trudge through snow and be there for several hours. And if you miss it, your opportunity to vote is gone.”

Margin of victory odds were also being offered on Haley and DeSantis.
