Dan Lanning opened as a 3/1 favorite (paying $300 for every $100 bet) to become the Alabama Crimson Tide next head coach.

ESPN’s Chris Low first broke the news on Wednesday.

Lanning, 37, is the current head coach at Oregon.  In two seasons with that team, the Ducks went 22-5 overall.

Lanning was also the defensive coordinator for Georgia. He was previously a GA at Alabama.

Dabo Swinney pays $400 for every $100 bet.  He is currently serving as the head football coach at Clemson University.

Paul Myerberg of USA Today said:

"The Alabama graduate has been linked to this potential opening since transforming Clemson into a national power. That the Tigers beat Alabama twice in the playoff championship game is enough to prove Swinney’s credentials. That he’s hit on a rougher patch the last handful of seasons might be something Alabama considers, though the broader resume ranks among the best of this generation of coaches. Swinney has spoken of his love for the program in the past but always deflected questions about his future. He’ll need to give an answer."

Lane Kiffin is another solid choice at 5/1 odds.  Kiffin was once Alabama's offensive coordinator and has guided Ole Miss to the second best record after Alabama in the SEC this most recent season.
