Don Mattingly is the favorite to be named next Milwaukee Brewers manager but he has competition.

Mattingly pays out $30 for every $10 bet or $300 for every $100 bet while Pat Murphy would pay out $50 on a $10 bet.

Craig Counsell took the big bucks and bolted for the Big Apple, leaving the Brewers without a manager.

Mattingly's tenure as manager of the Miami Marlins is coming to an end.

It's interesting to note that Milwaukee scored 12 in the second inning of their September 22 game against the Marlins to clinch a playoff spot.  The Marlins did play well in 2023 to also clinch the final Wildcard spot.

But Mattingly has been manager of the Marlins since 2016, going 437-583 in seven seasons.

Brewers GM Matt Arnold has gone on record as saying that Pat Murphy is 'in very real discussion' for the managerial vacancy.  Murphy is currently the bench coach for the Milwaukee Brewers.

"We want to get it right," he said when asked if there was a timeline for a hire.

He did not offer a hint as to whether the organization will look towards the outside or an internal candidate like Murphy.
