California has sent more kids to the Little League World Series than any other US state and has appeared in a number of Finals.

Their advancing into the LLWS is sure to draw countless eyeballs being that El Segundo will represent one of the largest sports markets, that being Los Angeles.

Louis Lappe struck out eight in a 3-1 victory over San Ramon’s Bollinger Canyon to get his team into the LLWS.

The unbeaten squad of 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars now head off to Williamsport, Pa.

Four days of rest did little to knock these little guys off their game.

“It’s not fun to have four days off but at the end of the day, we got to go home and sleep in our own beds and we needed it,” El Segundo manager Danny Boehle said.

Entering the Little League World Series undefeated is likely to have El Segundo among the favorites to win it all once odds are posted.

“’Lou’ is a spectacular player and pitcher. He shows no emotion,” Boehle said. “Some guys hang their heads or get too high. Not Lou.”

The team will open play Thursday against the Great Lakes Regional champion, New Albany Little League of Ohio.
