Pitcher Kevin Klingerman helped ensure his team advanced.  During the regional tournament he had zero earned runs, 17 strikeouts and only three hits allowed.  On Thursday, he struck out eight batters and only gave up two hits in the complete game win against Elmhurst.

Other contributors included Nolan Pettigrew, who broke the scoreless game with a line drive up the middle. Cole Mueller's appearance resulted in two runs after Elmhurst's pitcher tried to throw the ball, which barely got beyond home plate, to the catcher for the out.  He was unable to handle the ball. Hunter Sayre hit a grounder to the short stop, resulting in another score and a 4-0 game.

New Albany lost to Illinois on Monday but worked its way back through the loser’s bracket, beating Kentucky on Tuesday followed by Thursday’s win over Illinois.

Hamilton was the most recent team representing Ohio to make the final in 2021.  They faced off against the ultimate winner Taylor, Michigan as international teams were still unable to enter the US due to Covid-19 restrictions.  An Ohio team had never made it to the final previous to 2021.
