Should I Bet the Rays-Red Sox Total? - June 4

The Rays are suddenly looking human again and playing .500 baseball over their last ten games.  They will be offering up Taj Bradley (3-2, 3.60 ERA), a desperate Taj Bradley we should say.  He was charged with one run (zero earned) over 5 2/3 innings on Monday but it was still a loss to the Cubs.  Bradley surrendered only three hits.  He hasn't had a win in his last three starts.  The total for this game is coming in at 9.

Red Sox are 5-11 in their last 16 games vs. a right-handed starter.

Tanner Houck gave up four runs and six hits in four innings Sunday in a loss to the Diamondbacks but he, too, comes into this one desperate.  He hasn't had a win since April 20.

Prior to his last start, he allowed just one run on three hits over six strong frames against the Angels but did not factor into the decision.

While the last three games in this series have gone OVER the 9, the previous six hit that number or stayed below it.

What's to Love

• Both starting pitchers have their backs up against the wall in a very big way
• Both starting pitchers have had one start in their last three where they gave up a single run
• Taj Bradley had a streak of three wins prior to this recent three-game drought
• Each team has seen nine or fewer runs in half of their last ten starts

What's Not to Love

• Neither starter is the best on their team's roster
• Bradley is yet to pitch beyond 5 innings this season
• The Over is 20-7-1 in the last 28 meetings in Boston.

The Rays are 4-11 in their last 15 road games vs. a team with a winning record.

The Red Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 overall.

This one does have UNDER written all over it (no pun intended).  Do take the UNDER 9.
