New York Jets Betting Trends: Will Zach Wilson be Benched?

(November 26, 2022) - BetOnline was offering odds on whether Zack Wilson becomes the next quarterback benched.  They had Wilson as a pretty big favorite.  Mike White will now assume the QB responsibilities, at least for this game. The Jets host Chicago, a team that is second worst in the league right now according to the Sagarin Ratings.  Our number is New York 6.77.  The actual line is Jets 6.5, up from 4.5This makes for a very accurate line.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh advised White of the big news.

“Initially, just excited,” White said of his reaction. “It’s just what every player in this locker room wants is a chance to compete and prove themselves. But more importantly, it’s just a chance to be a good teammate and help the team and worry about the team first.”

New York is also in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt at 6-4 and should easily go 7-4 against the lowly Bears.

The Jets were also a hot 6-4 Against The Spread coming into this game.

Bears vs. Jets Trends

The Bears are 3-13 Against the Spread in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

The Bears are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 games overall.

The Jets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.

Jets are 5-1 Against The Spread in their last 6 games following a straight up loss.

New York is 7-15 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

The Bears are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings vs. the Jets, however, this record stretches back two decades and the last time these two teams faced one another was in 2018.

Jets Failed Covers Trends

Nov 20, 2022@ NE - Jets +3.5 New England.  The home favorite NE covers and wins. We had an underlay of 2 points here.

Comparable games included:

Detroit +3.5 to +3 New York Giants (road dog Detroit covers and wins) NYG 4.99 Underlay of 1.5 to 2 points.

LA Chargers -3.5 to -3 Atlanta (home dog Atlanta covers with LA 3 point win) LA 4.86 Underlay of 1.5 to 2.

Jets +3 to +3.5 Pittsburgh (road team dog Jets cover and win by 4 points) Pittsburgh 4.91 Underlay of 1.5 to 2.

Miami +3.5 Baltimore (road dog Miami wins) Baltimore 4.38 1 point underlay.

As you might have noticed from these comparables, one of which featured the Jets, the dog had gone 4-0.  New England's cover versus the Jets perhaps was a case of the favorite simply "being due" for a win where there is a similar underlay of around 1 to 2 points and line range of 3 to 3.5.

Sep 25, 2022 vs, CIN - Cincinnati -4.5 to -6.5 New York Jets.  The road favorite Cincinnati covers with a big 15 point win.  We had a 2.5 overlay to a line that was On the Money.

There hasn't been much of an edge to find within this particular line range.  Overlays were 5-5 and lines On the Money were 3-3 within the 6.5/7 range as of November 26.
