The PlayStar Casino Launch, in Detail

Despite an association with some of the biggest names in the business, PlayStar Casino may not be a name that you’re familiar with yet for two reasons. Firstly, it only began operating in 2020 and, secondly, it’s a company based out of Sweden. Its star is rising online, though, largely due to the fact that PlayStar will launch in the United States (NJ and PA) in late 2022.

Game Developers

PlayStar CEO Per Hellberg gave an interview to SBC Americas back in December 2021 that outlined the platform’s goals for its future in the US. PlayStar endeavours to deliver a unique player experience that includes lots of engagement with the brand. What this means in non-marketing words is that PlayStar has an equal focus on games and the “events” between them, like bonuses and loyalty schemes.

It’s probably fair to say that PlayStar is most commonly associated with co-founder Adam Noble in the press, as the former Australian Air Force member has given the lion’s share of interviews regarding the website’s upcoming launch. Noble notes that PlayStar is trying to secure access to as many US states as possible, with Indiana looking promising for the online casino. An option to head north to Ontario in Canada is also on the table.

Of course, as with any casino launch, the games that PlayStar offers will make all the difference to the potential player base. To date, the company’s LinkedIn page has announced deals with popular game developers Light & Wonder, Evolution, NetEnt, Red Tiger, and Pariplay. This does hint at an extensive range of experiences, especially given the presence of live casino pioneer Evolution. Overall, PlayStar should be familiar to any existing players in the northeast, at least in terms of its games.

Internet Vikings

The major obstacle facing PlayStar is that it’s joining the American casino market during a boom period, which means it needs to find ways to differentiate itself from its competitors, of which there are at least twenty operating online. There’s a similar number of casinos in brick-and-mortar facilities too. PlayStar has stressed that its non-gaming product, i.e. customer service, will be attractive to players looking for a new site.

PlayStar will also integrate with Parx Casino and Ocean Casino Resort, potentially providing an interesting set of rewards for VIP players, such as hotel stays, as well as a means to deposit cash offline, at the casino cage. On that latter point, PlayStar will offer a range of payment options that include PayPal, online bank transfer, VIP Preferred e-Checks, and both credit and debit cards.

Since the announcement of its plans to break into the United States gaming market, PlayStar has been working with Internet Vikings, another Swedish company. Internet Vikings is a company dedicated to helping iGaming outfits get started and set up in non-native lands. Ultimately, it will serve as the back-end of PlayStar Casino, providing customer service and website security.

It’ll be interesting to see how PlayStar performs in its first few years of operation, especially against a backdrop of intense competition.
