What was supposed to be an easy win for Arizona GOP gubernatorial primary candidate Kari Lake, according to oddsmakers, has been anything but.

The former long time news anchor backed by former U.S. President Donald Trump was leading Karrin Taylor Robson as of Wednesday morning but not before the later had started off with a substantial lead overnight.

Taylor Robson had garnered a significant number of early votes compared to Lake, who receieved the majority of same day votes.

As of Wednesday morning, Lake had 46.2% of the vote, and Taylor Robson had 44.5%.  The oddsmakers had Lake as a hughe -800 favorite coming into Tuesday's primary.

Lake had told her supporters overnight that she is "winning this 100%" and claimed that there's "no path to victory for my opponent. We won this race."

Taylor Robson, who received the endorsement of former Vice President Michael Pence, tweeted out to her supporters that "we feel calm and confident, and we will wait for every vote to be counted!".

Still to be counted, ballot drop box votes.  These are likely to favor Lake, according MSNBC political analyst Steve Kornacki.

The winner of the Tuesday's Republican primary will  face off in November against Katie Hobbs, who won her primary in a landslide.

Current Republican Governor Doug Ducey is term limited.  Ducey is the nephew of offshore sportsbook pioneer William Scott, whose World Wide Tele Sports (WWTS) was acquired by Bodog, now Bovada, in October, 2006 for $9 million.

Under Ducey's leadership, sports betting became legalized in Arizona.
