LAS VEGAS — The Poker Hall of Fame will announce on Sunday who its newest member is.

The announcement will take place at the ongoing World Series of Poker Main Event, at Bally‘s casino here.

There are 10 nominees and only one will get in.

The selection is made by the current members of the Hall.

So who is it likely to be?

It sounds gruesome, but there’s no better way to get a sympathy vote than by dying.

And one nominee fits that bill perfectly— Layne Flack.

Flack was one of the top poker players of his generation, having won six World Series of poker championship bracelets and more than $5 million in career live tournament earnings.

He was also well-liked by his peers, which is important in a clubby-type election such as this.

Tragically, he died of a drug overdose almost one year ago today— July 19, 2021.

He had a history of drug problems, and after he died an autopsy revealed his death was caused by an overdose from a combination of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Gambling 911 broke the story about Flack's cause of death in a world exclusive report.

The combination of being a great player, being popular and dying tragically at the young age 51 suggests very strongly that he will be the one named to the Poker Hall of Fame on Sunday, albeit posthumously.

As a public service, Gambling 911 has set odds for getting into the Poker Hall of Fame for this year‘s nominees:

Layne Flack 1-2

Bertrand “ElkY” Grospelier 3-1

Kathy Liebert 3-1

Josh Arieh 3-1

Matt Savage 4-1

Lon McEachern/Norman Chad duo 4-1

Isai Schoenberg 4-1

Michael Mizrachi 5-1

Mike Matusow 5-1

Brian Rast 10-1
