History of the Millionaire Maker

This event began in 2013 with restaurant manager and amateur player Benny Chen bagging the $1.1 million prize along with a WSOP bracelet.

It was the largest non-main event in live tournament history at the time, attracting 6,343 players.

Likewise, no live tournament ever had ever registered and dealt in as many players in a single day as the inaugural “Millionaire Maker.”

This event also featured the biggest payout on a $1500 buy-in.

It was also the largest number of payouts for any non-Main Event in History at 648.

Shannon Shorr was among the big name pros participating in this year's Millionaire Maker event.  Shorr has won $10,569,550 in career live tournaments to date, though he's yet to win a bracelet.

Ricardo Alvarado sat atop the leaderboard.  He's earned just over $2 million in live tournament play over his career.

Cards go in the air for Day 1b at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and will feature 11 one-hour levels. Surviving players from both flights will return for Day 2 on Sunday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m.
