The eight-team College World Series tournament is wide open with some solid payout potentials, even for the favorite,  This comes as the juggernaut that was the Tennessee Volunteers (opened at -140 odds) ousted during the Super Regionals.

Fans of the elite eight may disagree, but according to the folks who create numbers for a living, this is as tight of a CWS as we've had in quite some time.  Texas is the slight 4-1 favorite but Arkansas comes in at +450 and a handful of teams are listed at either 5-1 or 6-1.   There is only four points separating the favorite from the "least likely" to win.

"I can't recall a College World Series in the past decade where there wasn't a clear favorite or two," SportsBetting.ag risk manager Adam Burns said. "Three of the top four favorites going into the Supers were eliminated, which has created a very tight market for the eight remaining."

To open the season, Stanford had the next-best odds after Tennessee at +525 and is still in.  Virginia Tech (+900) and Oregon State (+1000) were third and fourth, respectively, and they are also out.

Games begin again June 17 and are scheduled through June 27.  Games will be shown on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU with live streaming available on ESPN+ and fuboTV.   Betting is available at SportsBetting.ag
