Houston Cougars Predictions, Odds - March Madness 2022

The Houston Cougars odds to win the 2022 NCAA Men's College Basketball Championship were coming in at 45-1, meaning that a $100 bet pays out $4500 should they win the Championship.

The Houston Cougars odds should be as follows based on who they end up playing:

San Francisco (84) +4

Loyola Chicago (83) +3

Boise State (83) +3

Notre Dame (82) +2

Creighton (82) +2

Davidson (82) +2

VCU (82) +2

Dayton (82) +2

Murray State (81) +1

Miami FL (81) +1

UAB (81) +1

North Texas (80) PK

Toledo (80) PK

South Dakota State (80) PK

Belmont (79.5) PK

Wyoming (79) -1

Chattanooga (79) -1

Northern Iowa (78) -2

Vermont (78) -2

New Mexico State (78) -2

Towson (77) -3

Grand Canyon (77) -3

Iona (77) -3

Houston looked more like itself in the second half, with the 18th-ranked Cougars counting on big man Fabian White Jr. to finish off their American Athletic Conference tournament opener.

White was 5-of-7 shooting while scoring 11 of his 18 points after halftime, and finished with eight rebounds, and the Cougars overcame a 10-point deficit to beat Cincinnati 69-56 in an AAC quarterfinal game Friday.

“Once we got to halftime, we just came up with a new plan ... here’s what we’re going to do, play through Fabian and extend our pick-and-roll defense,” Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson said. “Cincinnati played with a lot of confidence that first half, whereas we played like this was our first game of the tournament."

Once we get past the first round, assuming Houston advances, the Cougars can probably be gotten at a decent price on the moneyline.

In non-conference games Houston is 58-10 Straight Up since 2017 for an 85.3% win percentage and 93-26 SU since 2013 for a 78.2% win percentage.

In NCAA Tournament games Houston is 7-3 since 2017.

Since 2017:

As a favorite: 122-18-0 87.1%

This stat won't matter during the Tournament but it's interesting to note that, after a loss, Houston is 32-4 Straight Up since 2016 for an 88.9% win percentage (just in case they happen to lose to Tulane in the final game heading into the Big Dance).

"Houston is going to be an awfully interesting test case for the committee. Getting blown out by Memphis on Sunday likely takes the Cougars out of the mix for a top-four seed, when combined with their complete dearth of quality wins. But they still have elite metrics and an AAC tournament title would keep them in a favorable position." - ESPN.
