Where Can I Bet The 2022 March Madness Online From Illinois

Betting on this year's March Madness is possible from the great state of Illinois using BetOnline, where you can claim your generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1000). 18 and up are welcome.  BetOnline does not report your winnings or ask for a social security number.  There are also now in-state apps requiring individuals to be 21 and up.  These apps require a social security number to register and do not permit betting on in-state schools.  BetOnline allows for wagering on in-state schools such as the University of Illinois and Northwestern and has been serving the sports betting public for nearly 25 years now.

Are In-State Mobile Sports Betting Apps Available?

YES. But Illinois has a number of pitfalls when it comes to mobile sports betting.

One, to join an in-state app, individuals still need to sign up in person at one of the retail sportsbooks located within the state.  This is one of the primary reasons that offshore sportsbooks continue to be in relatively high demand here.

Remote registration will return to the Land of Lincoln in March 2022, at which time we will see their rating move up probably two notches.

Two, the in-state schools do not allow wagering on schools based inside Illinois or the games that feature them.   This means no betting on the Fighting Illini in college football or basketball, no betting on Northwestern, no betting on beloved Sister Jean's Loyola Ramblers.

In-State Mobile App Rating

7

There are only six mobile sports betting sites and a few more than that retail sportsbooks with the opportunity coming to place bets as stadiums and ball parks soon.

Sports bet winnings over $600 are subject to a 15% tax rate in Illinois while casinos in Illinois typically withhold 25% of winnings for federal tax purposes.  If you live in Cook County, home of Chicago, an additional 2% tax rate does apply.

Players are able to deduct amounts wagered and lost — but may not deduct wagers on winning bets.
