Kamala Harris Supreme Court Justice Betting Odds Long

As our friends at BetOnline ponder the betting odds on who will replace US Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, it is widely anticipated that current US Vice President Kamala Harris odds will be long, though probably still in the single digits.

"I would say probably close to 10-1 odds," remarked resident Gambling911 odds expert Tony Caliente.

More conservative and right wing leaning media outlets have pushed the idea while more liberal leaning media have mostly brushed such a notion off.

Breyer was expected to officially announce his retirement this week at the age of 83 but will stick around until his replacement is found.

Politico believes that Harris is (almost certainly) not gonna be the pick.

True, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki didn't completely close the door Wednesday — "The president has every intention, as he said before, of running for reelection and for running for reelection with Vice President Harris on the ticket" — but this scenario just doesn't seem likely. Harris got asked about this during a Face the Nation interview in December: "I like what I'm doing, the ability to travel around the country, to talk with folks, to push for policy, that has impact in a very direct way." Bill Kristol theories aside, selecting the sitting vice president for the court feels like an evocative flourish you wouldn't expect from Joe Biden. Her former chief spokeswoman, Symone Sanders, dismissed the chatter as "right wing gossip with no basis in facts."

Biden has said repeatedly that he would pick a black woman as his first Supreme Court nominee and Faulkner said that “it’s hard to not to see, at least, [Harris] makes the list.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the possibility near the top of her daily press briefing, saying, “I’m not going to speak to any considerations, preparations, lists.”

Psaki also noted that Biden “has every intention, as he said before, of running for re-election and for running for re-election with Vice President Harris on the ticket as his partner.”
