Why Wake Forest Could Cover Against FSU Week 3

Wake Forest is 2-0 Straight Up yet 0-2 Against The Spread entering Week 3. Does anybody think this decent Demon Deacons team deserves to head into Week 4 0-3 Against The Spread?  They are a -5.5 favorite against FSU.

To be clear, this line is right on the money based on each team's rating and the home field advantage factored in.  Would we prefer an underlay of 1 point or more?  For sure.  Ideally we would like to see a situation where the line should be -6.5 or greater and the actual line at -5.5 or less.

Bovada has offered this one at -5 briefly before bringing the number back up to -5.5 after three hours on Monday.  They actually opened at -6.5 and likely got a ton of lopsided action on FSU.

Wake Forest has won big against Old Dominion and Norfolk but failed to cover the 33 and 43 point spreads.

FSU's claim to fame is that they lost to Jacksonvill State in Week 2.  This followed a 3-point loss to Notre Dame in which they managed to cover the spread. The Fighting Irish, by the way, is another team 2-0 Straight Up and 0-2 Against The Spread.

What's important to acknowledge here is that the Demon Deacons have not played a team of FSU's caliber.  The Seminoles are still a talented enough team.   Assuming they are even halfway decent, Florida State is going to be looking to make amends in Week 3.

If the Deacons are able to win against Florida State, they will have their first (3-0) start since 2019.
