Citing concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic, poker pro and Americas Cardroom ambassador Chris Moneymaker says he will not play in this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP).
More specifically, Moneymaker worries about his 9-year-old son, who is ineligible to get the Covid-19 vaccine at this time. He is also considered immunocompromised due to asthma.

The 52nd WSOP is slated to return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for 2021 from Thursday, September 30th to Tuesday, November 23rd. But rising Covid numbers and hospitalizations threaten to throw a wrench into those plans. Likewise, ongoing travel bans could dilute attendance further. It is unclear at this time if the WSOP has a backup plan.
The ACR team pro and ambassador also made it clear that quarantining wasn’t an option, stating:
“I don’t want to sit alone for a week just to play poker.”
