According to a source close to Cantu, the 40-year-old poker pro, who’s won two World Series of Poker championship bracelets and has nearly $5 million in live tournament winnings, has been released from a Portland, Oregon hospital and is recovering at home.

“He’s doing much better,“ the source said.

Cantu is no longer on supplemental oxygen, the source said.

He wanted to take an oxygen tank home to facilitate breathing, but the hospital wouldn’t let him because of insurance reasons, the source added.

Cantu, a native of Vancouver, Washington, is one of the more popular players on the professional poker circuit and has a large following on social media.

He’s also an historical figure in the world of poker, being one of just a handful of men to have won both a World Series of Poker title and a World Poker Tour title.

Cantu was not vaccinated against Covid, the source revealed.
