YouTube Bans Masthead Gambling Ads

YouTube has announced it will no longer be displaying online gambling ads at the top of the homepage, commonly referred to as the masthead.

Social casino game ads will also be banned from these types of displays, as will some types of political advertisements.

The social media video platform is one of the most visited websites in the world. YouTube's masthead is the most sought after by advertisers.

According to YouTube’s ad support page, ads in the masthead slot can “drive massive reach or awareness".

Last year, YouTube parent company, Google, changed the slot to show targeted ads.

It was not immediately clear what prompted this decision.
