Midnight Bourbon The New Preakness Stakes Favorite

Trained by Steven M. Asmussen, Midnight Bourbon is one of only three horses that ran in the Kentucky Derby appearing in Saturday's Preakness Stakes, Medina Spirit and Keepmeinmind being the other two.

Many pundits view him as a serious contender despite a 6th place finish at the Kentucky Derby.  Midnight Bourbon had been bumped early in that race and still managed to place 6th.  He also tied his career-best 99 Equibase Speed Figure earned in January.

He also gets a top jockey, Irad Ortiz Jr., the leading North American jockey of 2020.  He is once again leading the standings this year.
