Betting Preview

It was a brutal outing for the New York Yankees Friday in an 8-2 loss to the Rays thanks in no small part to the inperfect trifecta: Failed pitching, hitting and fielding.

New York walked seven and had only three hits.  The Yankees also struck out 14 times and made three errors that led to three unearned runs.

New York's sloppiness sent the Yankees to a third straight loss and a sixth loss in eight games.

The Rays snapped a three game losing streak Friday.

"It's been a frustrating couple of days at home, so to come in here against a good team with their fans that were animated, I thought we handled things really, really well," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "So [I'm] very encouraged with that."

Dominant right-hander Tyler Glasnow will start for Tampa Saturday afternoon in this 1:05 pm ET game. His 0.46 ERA is third-best in the American League.  On Monday against Texas, he struck out a career-high 14 hitters in a career-best 7 2/3 innings in a 1-0 win.

Glasnow's strikeouts were one shy of the team record shared by James Shields (2012) and Chris Archer (2015).

Glasnow is 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA in five career starts against the Yankees, including 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA at Yankee Stadium.

Left-hander Jordan Montgomery starts for the Yankees.  He previously allowed four runs on five hits in five-plus innings against Tampa Bay last Sunday.

He is 1-2 with a 5.54 ERA in seven career starts against the Rays.

Both these teams own records below the .500 mark with Tampa 6-8 and New York at 5-8.  The Yankees continue to have the second shortest odds of winning the World Series at 6-1 while Tampa is a 25-1.

Baseball News

Chris Paddack Player Prop Bets

Paddack recorded 10 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Monday in a win over the White Sox. Prior to that start, Paddack was obliterated by the Orioles, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Zach Eflin Player Prop Bets

Zach Eflin has great value in fantasy leagues for the April 26 game against the lowly Chicago White Sox.  Betting on Eflin and the Tampa Bay Rays might make sense if not for the -210 price tag.

Trevor Williams Player Prop Bets

The Nats Trevor Williams held the Astros to one run with four strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision on Saturday.  And the betting public was eating him up at a near 80% clip.
