Color of the Gatorade Bath Super Bowl Prop Bet - Chiefs vs. Bucs

There is sometimes an inclination when placing a bet on the Gatorade bath Super Bowl prop to go with the participating team color schemes.  Recent history, however, suggests there is little correlation.  Below are this year's Super Bowl prop bets for the Gatorade bath with Orange favored at +125 for a payout of $12.50 on every $10 wagered.

Color of liquid poured on winning coach

Orange            +125

Red/Pink         +300

Yellow/Green/Lime    +400

Purple             +600

Clear                +600

Blue                 +700

You will notice that Red pays $30 for every $10 bet.  Red is the primary color scheme for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Bucs.

The odds aren't even based on popularity or best selling flavor as rankings differ depending on who you ask.  While Orange and Green would tend to rank high, Clear is frequently used in Super Bowl dunkings and there is some debate as to whether that liquid is actually Gatorade or water.

Although the origins of the Gatorade bath remain unclear, what is clear is that this has become one of the most popular Super Bowl prop bets.

The actual dunking can be traced back to the 1984 Chicago Bears. Lineman Dan Hampton collaborated with teammates Steve McMichael and Mike Singletary to get coach Mike Ditka wet after a regular-season win over the Vikings in 1984.
