Am I Able to Bet on Draftkings From Georgia?

Whether it's during the NFL and college football season, leading up to the Super Bowl and March Madness or during an MLB game, I constantly see the Draftkings commercials from here in Georgia, but can I place real money bets on the site from here?  The answer is YES, just not with Draftkings. BetUS offers an excellent alternative, not to mention a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $3125)

Draftkings will only allow bets from states that dole out licenses.  Georgia is not one of those states.

BetUS is licensed outside the USA and is accessible from the state.

While a bill was recently introduced to allow sportsbooks to operate from Georgia, don't expect anything to pass soon as this is one of the least gambling-friendly states.

State Rep. Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) is sponsoring Georgia’s bill. He said legalizing sports gambling will help address Georgia’s budget shortfall.

“Georgia just aims to capture those revenues for what people are already doing,” said Stephens.

He added that it won’t require a constitutional amendment because the plan is to run it through the Georgia Lottery, generating money to fund the HOPE Scholarship and pre-K programs.

Standing in the way of his proposed legistlation, Mike Griffin the Georgia Baptist Mission Board’s Public Affairs Representative.

“It’s not a win-win. It’s a lose-lose. The only people that win are the people that run the gambling operations,” Griffin said.

Griffin claimed it’s “rigged” and “legalized fraud.” He also believes it can tear families apart.

“I just started seeing him decline socially. Physically he wasn’t eating that much and he lost a tremendous amount of weight,” said the mother of a 22-year-old man addicted to online sports betting who asked to have her identity concealed because she’s part of GAM-Anon, a 12-step program for those affected by a loved one’s gambling.

Should Stephens be successful, sports betting in the Peach Tree State could begin as early as July 1.  The bill as it is written now prohibits wagering on college sports.
