Congress confirmed Democrat Joe Biden as the presidential election winner early Thursday after Trump loyalists stormed the U.S. Capitol in a stunning attempt to overturn America’s presidential election, undercut the nation’s democracy and keep Trump in the White House.

Overnight the sitting US President acknowledged the Biden transition.

Last month it was revealed that a criminal probe into Trump led by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has intensified. Trump faces two New York state inquiries into whether he misled tax authorities, banks or business partners.

It isn’t known whether any investigation has gathered sufficient evidence to charge Trump with any crimes.
