Look at just about any predictions site and you will see a common trend: Tiz The Law is the pick at 6/5 odds. Not bad odds actually. There are only three other entries that have single-digit odds and they start at 8/1 (Honor A.P.), which means Tiz The Law is a good 9-point favorite ahead of all others.

Tiz the Law is a good bet to win the Triple Crown; to do that he has to lead the field at Churchill Downs. I don’t see any horse having enough down the stretch to close the gap and anything short of victory would be a disappointment. Longshot Country House was declared the winner last year following the disqualification of Maximum Security, so an upset can happen. Other than that the favorite has had success winning the previous five Derby races. There are horses that shouldn’t be overlooked, though. Authentic is running well and Ny Traffic blossomed this year finishing second to top three-year-olds in his last three gallops.

If any horse is going to beat Tiz The Law, look at Authentic. The payout is good at 9-1 odds or $900 for every $100 bet.

There is a good combo here of Bob Baffert as the trainer and John R. Velazquez as the jockey.

Worth a wager?: Got away with a :47.2 half mile in the Haskell. Will have to have a higher cruising speed on Derby day. Can Baffert’s best chance get the distance? John Velazquez will be the 1st to know. Winner.
