PITCHING MATCUP: Yankees LH James Paxton (2019: 15-6, 3.82 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (2019: 18-6, 3.32)

Paxton made a career-high 29 starts in his first season with the Yankees in 2019. He won his final 10 decisions and posted a 1.05 ERA in five September starts before going 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA in three postseason outings. The 31-year-old will be facing the Nationals for the first time.

After winning a career-high 18 games during the regular season, Strasburg went 5-0 with a 1.98 ERA over six appearances during the playoffs. The 32-year-old struck out a career-high 251 batters last year while holding opponents to a .210 average. Stanton has three homers and eight doubles in 48 career at-bats against Strasburg.
