Disgraced and disbarred attorney John K. Conner lost his appeal and will serve a 46 month prison sentence after being found guilty of draining the bank account of a 96-year-old woman to fuel his gambling addiction.

Conner, a former agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who practiced law in Philadelphia, also must pay $80,000 in restitution. He had been given power-of-attorney to manage the elderly victim's finances in 2016, Judge Joseph A. Greenaway noted in the opinion from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit.
The appeal was followed based on Conner’s attorney having the inability to cross-examine the woman. She was too ill to testify during the trial, so prosecutors were allowed to present a statement she provided during a hearing on a complaint she lodged against Conner with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
According to the judge, Conner was charged 19 counts of wire fraud and one count of lying to federal agents after he told the FBI he had an oral agreement with the victim that he could use her money to gamble. A jury convicted Conner on the charges last year.
