In the Divisional Round of the playoffs against the Houston Texans, the Chiefs began the game with a 24–0 deficit early in the second quarter. The Chiefs would then go on a 51–7 run, including 41 unanswered points, to win 51–31. Mahomes threw for 321 yards and 5 touchdowns and rushed for 53 yards as he helped lead the Chiefs to their second consecutive conference championship game.[80] In the AFC Championship against the Titans, Mahomes threw for 3 touchdowns and rushed for a 27 yard touchdown, the second longest run of his career and longest in the playoffs.[81] Mahomes' performance helped lead the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl appearance since Super Bowl IV in 1970.
