Wheeler turned down a larger offer from the Chicago White Sox that was in excess of $120 million, sources told Passan.

The Phillies, who have a new manager, Joe Girardi, needed rotation help, and Jake Arrieta is entering the final year of his contract with the club.

He has made 60 starts over the past two seasons, going 23-15 with a 3.65 ERA with 374 strikeouts in 377⅔ innings.

In 2018, he bounced back with 29 starts and had career bests in wins (12) and ERA (3.31).

The Phillies were coming in at 16-1 odds to win the 2020 World Series.  It is best to lock this price in early considering they have new manager Joe Girardi.  This could be the team to beat in 2020.

Baseball News

Chris Paddack Player Prop Bets

Paddack recorded 10 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Monday in a win over the White Sox. Prior to that start, Paddack was obliterated by the Orioles, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Zach Eflin Player Prop Bets

Zach Eflin has great value in fantasy leagues for the April 26 game against the lowly Chicago White Sox.  Betting on Eflin and the Tampa Bay Rays might make sense if not for the -210 price tag.

Trevor Williams Player Prop Bets

The Nats Trevor Williams held the Astros to one run with four strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision on Saturday.  And the betting public was eating him up at a near 80% clip.
