On Monday August 12 Sportsbetting.ag revealed that the Indians were now co-favorites to win the AL Central with the Minnesota Twins.  The payout is $5 for every $6 bet (or a $5 profit for every $6 bet).  Just as long as Cleveland wins the division, that $6 bet is refunded.

Despite the sensational season, the Indians attendance is down 12.5 percent.

Cleveland has averaged 21,062 fans per game through its first 60 home games of the 2019 season.

Then again, the Indians weren't great to start off the season.

WKYC notes the following:

As of Monday, the Indians' lay claim to the third-best team ERA in MLB (3.63) and have possessed the third-best pitching staff in baseball this season with a defensive WAR (wins above replacement) of 17.08, per Baseball-Reference.

Corey Kluber is also due to return.

The deadline deal also helped.

It's been less than two weeks since the Indians agreed to send Bauer to Cincinnati in a three-way deal also involving the San Diego Padres to acquire Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes. But already, Cleveland has begun to reap the rewards of its MLB Trade Deadline blockbuster.

While Reyes has yet to find his footing in Cleveland, hitting .111/.128/.167 and 3 RBIs, Puig has almost instantly fortified the middle of the Indians' lineup. In 11 games with his new team, Puig has hit .357 (.984 OPS), 6 RBIs, 4 doubles and 1 home run.

On top of all that, the former All-Star has injected Cleveland's clubhouse with a newfound sense of energy, as evidenced by his wave to the Minnesota dugout on Friday night.

The biggest reason for the turnaround is the Indians having the best bullpen in Major League Baseball.

Through their its first 118 games, the Indians bullpen lays claim to a 3.21 ERA.
