Depending on the book, Chicago was either a -3 or -3.5 favorite and seeing only around 18 percent of the action at -3.5.  The line has definitely trended down from its opener at -4.  There are early indications that the books believe Chicago will be able to cover the spread by 5 or more.

The public appears to believe Green Bay will come back strong in 2019.  They also see the recent head-to-head trends that have Green Bay 9-1 over the Bears in their last ten meetings.  In fact, the Bears only won in their last meeting versus the Packers in the waning weeks of last season.

But maybe these Bears will be very good.

Books seem to think they won't win more than 9 regular season games.  They are favored to win fewer than 9.5.

So, too, are the Packers.  They are priced at -140 to win 9 or fewer games.

Athlon Sports writes of the Packers chances in 2019-2020:

Even with (GM Brian) Gutekunst’s commitment to improving defensive personnel and (head coach Matthew) LaFleur’s vow to run the ball more, this team still rises and falls with (Aaron) Rodgers. After last year, it’s easy to forget how good Rodgers was during the Packers’ eight-game winning streak en route to a berth in the 2016 NFC Championship Game (2,384 yards, 21 touchdowns, one interception, 117.9 rating) and to start the 2017 season before fracturing his right collarbone (1,367 yards, 13 TDs, three INTs, 104.1 rating). If a new offense and new coach can bring back the old Rodgers, the Packers will be a playoff team once again.

There are questions surrounding the Bears, most of all, who will the kicker be on opening night?  And will Anthony Miller's injury hurt the Bears' offense?

From Chicago 5:

Miller suffered an ankle injury during practice in the final days at Bourbonnais, and the Bears have to be holding their breath as the talented second-year wide receiver works his way through injury rehab.

Nagy says that Miller is not in jeopardy of missing the team’s regular season opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 5, but after shoulder issues robbed him of numerous regular season snaps last year, it would have been nice to get the receiver another full camp of working with Trubisky and the rest of the first-teamers.

With Miller out, look for other receivers, like Marvin Hall and Javon Wims, to get more work in preseason action, and perhaps to earn a roster spot along the way.
