The UNC Tar Heels are among the favorites to win the NCAA Men's Championship game year after year. Those living in North Carolina can bet the Tar Heels online from any number of top licensed offshore sportsbooks.

Residents of the state and those visiting will be able to bet on the Tar Heels at one of the two Cherokee operated casinos slated to get sportsbooks. A bill had passed the House and Senate and awaited signing by the Governor as this was going to press.
A number of states prevent betting on their own schools, including New Jersey, Illinois and Iowa. North Carolina lives and breathes college basketball. It would not be a stretch to suggest that every three bets placed on college basketball will be on one of the state schools that is playing on a particular day.
UNC ranked third in the nation for attendance with an average of 19,715 fans during the 2018-19 season. This gives some sense as to the amount of betting the Tar Heels can attract just in North Carolina. Only Syracuse (21,992) and Kentucky (21,695) ranked higher in average attendance.
The Tar Heels were coming in at 14/1 odds to win the NCAA Men's College Basketball Championship in 2020 with Duke at 9/1 odds.
