Status of Sports Betting in Alabama

Alabama surprised many when lawmakers introduced a sports betting bill back in early April.

That bill would have authorized sports betting on one's mobile device anywhere in the state, thus providing some competition for the offshore books.

The appetite for legalized sports betting within Alabama's borders simply isn't there, most experts believe.  This is despite the fact that the state is host to two of the top teams in College Football.  Auburn also made the Final Four this year in College Basketball.

Never fear as residents can still place all their sports bets online with offshore sportsbooks, many of which have been around for over 20 years now.
