Tennessee Approves Online Sports Betting
Tennessee will become the 10th (or 9th) state to legalize sportsbook within its borders.
Until now, residents of the state were only able to place bets via offshore sportsbooks.
Now those living in the state will have the option of playing at license online bookmakers operating from within the state.
Tennessee will not offer retail sportsbooks. It will only offer online/mobile sports wagering.
The state senate and house passed legislation but the governor announced he would not be signing it. Instead, he was going to let the legislation become law without his signature in mid-May (2019). During this wait period, Montana's governor signed into law that state's own sports betting measure.

Tunica, Mississippi, one hour south of Memphis, offers a handful of sportsbooks since the US Supreme Court shot down decades of prohibition.

From TheSpun: Tennessee hasn’t been relevant on a national level in several years, but the Volunteers’ fan base remains one of the most-passionate in the country. The Vols showed this off in crazy form during the Greg Schiano saga (something that has since been criticized by several members of the college football world), but the fan base did prove capable of seriously affecting a coaching search.
Sadly, the Titans fan base in the NFL is often ranked among the bottom of most polls.
