Why bet on the Houston Astros
We have spoken before about how it’s never a good idea to get too up or down in a team in the very early going. The Houston Astros came out of the gate slowly, getting off to a rather miserable 2-5 start, but since then, they have reeled of 7-staright wins, including a 10-6 win over the AL West leading Seattle Mariners on Friday night. That was a nice offensive outburst for a team that has not been getting much in the way of scoring in the early going, although their pitching has been outstanding, with just 50 runs surrendered through their first 13 games. The Astros have covered in 3 straight games, but they are still just 2-6 ATS as a road favorite. Houston will have Justin Verlander (1-0, 4.24 ERA) on the mound on Saturday night.
Why bet on the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners had a bit of an odd start to the season, heading to Japan for a pair of games, both of which they won, before getting a few says off ahead of the official opening day. It may have been a strange schedule, but it has certainly not hurt them, as they are sitting atop the AL West with an impressive 13-3 record. The Mariners have only dropped a single game away from home, but are 5-2 in their own building, with 1 of those 2 losses coming at the hands of the Astros. This is a team that has been hitting the ball all over the place, scoring 123 runs through their first 16 games, although they have also given up 85. It will be Felix Hernandez (1-0, 4.26 ERA) who gets the start here.

The first meeting in this series ended with a ton of runs on the board, but I think things will be a little different with this one. I think we are looking at a close one, which is why I like the Astros to win, the Mariners to cover, and the UNDER.
