PA Gambling Market Up 3.2% With Sports Betting

The Pennsylvania gambling market witnessed a 3.2 percent increase in the month of January.

The state’s slot machines, table games, and sportsbooks generated a combined $256,859,050 with the sportsbooks accounting for $2,607,205.  The first of six sportsbooks opened in November.  All six were in operation during the month of January with more expected to open soon.  Online sports betting is also anticipated in the coming months.  Web sportsbooks in neighboring New Jersey, which has around a dozen sportsbooks in operation, accounted for around 80% of overall handle.   The PA gambling market experienced a contraction of 1.6% compared to January 2017. Table games accounted for $74,409,695, up 4.7% year-over-year from $71,032,273. Slot revenue of $179,842,150 was up 1.1% from $177,795,127.
