Chicago Bears 2009 Odds: Don’t Expect Miracles

All the hoopla surrounding the Chicago Bears signing of Jay Cutler as their new quarterback may not pay off, at least not yet.  Chicago Bears 2009 odds were listed at +195 to win the NFC North at Sports Interaction for a payout potential of $195 on every $100 bet.  And while the oddsmakers at Sports Interaction have price Chicago significantly high as -200 favorites to win OVER 8 ½ games, 9 wins might not be good enough to make it into the playoffs with this year's NFC North division.

"Cutler is under a lot of pressure at Chicago," Sports Interaction's Frank Doyle says.  "People who didn't care for how he left Denver will be waiting for him to fall and then jump on the body, while Cutler is in a double jeopardy situation if Kyle Orton has a good year at Denver, which is entirely possible.

"Cutler has a cannon arm but that's of limited use when there's no-one to throw to. Orton doesn't have the same arm strength but he has very strong leadership skills - exactly the level of maturity that his critics say Jay Cutler lacks."

Cutler, who is prone to make interceptions, will lack the support he would otherwise have had in Chicago two years ago.

The defense is no longer the Bears strength either, and 20 Jay Cutlers can't help here.

Sure Chicago has an up and coming stud in tight end Greg Olsen, but that probably won't be enough to salvage this season.  Olsen had 54 receptions for 574 yards and five touchdowns in 2008.

Gambling911.com is liking the Green Bay Packers to win this division at just over 2/1 odds (sorry Chicago fans).
